Embarking on a journey to create new communities or ecovillages is thrilling, but how do you ensure long-term resilience, ecological integrity, and collective spirit from the very start? Join Máté Tuba to explore and compare two pioneering European models that offer distinct pathways toward sustainable, cooperative living.

Miethäuser Syndikat (Germany)

A well-established network of legally and financially linked housing co-ops that safeguards communities from speculative real estate pressures. Each project remains legally independent but is connected through co-ownership to the Syndikat – ensuring housing stays permanently affordable and community-driven.

Máté will explore how this structure has enabled more than 200 initiatives to thrive across Germany and beyond, providing invaluable insight into robust legal frameworks and collective ownership models.

Les Pas-Sages (France / Europe)

An association committed to helping groups co-create cooperative, resilient, ecological, and joyful living spaces. Les Pas-Sages simplifies complex legal, financial, governance, and human ecosystem mechanisms to support participatory housing projects and ecovillages.

What to Expect from This Session:

  • Clear explanations of how each model works—legally, financially, and socially.
  • Discussion on how these models could be adapted or combined in your own context.
  • Time for participants to ask questions and share local experiences or challenges
