The war has brought many challenges for people, communities, and nature in Ukraine. Long periods of stress, uncertainty, and safety concerns have left many people exhausted, making it harder to continue projects and create new opportunities. Other challenges include power shortages, soil pollution, and the environmental damage caused by military activities.
At the same time, interest in permaculture is growing. More community gardens and shared green spaces are being created, and permaculture centres are adapting to new needs. Permaculture is increasingly being used as a tool for therapy, wellbeing, and community recovery.
Our current projects include permaculture courses, the Healing through Nature project, the development of an educational Permaculture for Kids programme, and the publication of permaculture books in Ukrainian. Together, all of this shows how permaculture can support people, strengthen communities, and create hope even in times of crisis.

The public association „Permaculture in Ukraine” was founded in 2012. The organization conducts training, organizes conferences, festivals, translates and publishes thematic literature, provides permaculture design services, coordinates a network of training and demonstration centers, and develops international ties.
