During the session there will be a theoretical intro of the different contemporary , alternative farming systems and where permaculture is located on this scope, how it is related to farming, and other alternative initatives. We will explore also lighthouse farms and best practices as practical part of the introduction which will be followed by invited contributors from the international community to explore the situation of permaculture in alternative farming in the CEE region. We will discuss challenges and obstacles also future opportunities of permaculture in the contemporary era of alternative agriculture, and also what we as permaculture practitioners and associations can do for advocating permaculture farming in the region.
Alfred is one of the founders of the Pallagvölgyi Organic Farm. He earned his bachelor’s degree in agricultural engineering in Gödöllő, and then went on to complete a master’s degree in organic agricultural engineering there in 2017. He became interested in permaculture while in college, as he views it as the most nature-friendly alternative in farming. In 2024, he earned his Ph.D. from the Doctoral School of Environmental Sciences at the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Gödöllő (MATE). In addition to farming, he actively supports the work of domestic professional civil society organizations; he is an active member of the Hungarian Permaculture Association and a supporting member of the Hungarian Agroecology Network.
